The Vanguard didn’t come out of a boardroom meeting. It started as an idea shelved for a decade, brought back to life by our co-founder and lead designer as a hands-on challenge — a personal trial in machining, tight tolerances, and technical craft. A training exercise quickly turned into an obsession.
The end result? A pen that simply had to exist.
YOU'LL NEED: A 1/16" ALLEN WRENCH
How to swap the ink:
- Loosen the CLIP BOLT ONLY with the 1/16" Allen key
- Slide the brass clip off (keep a thumb over the top of the pen so nothing pops out)
- Take out the piston rod, spent ink cartridge & spring
- Drop in the fresh ink, spring & piston
- Put it all back together

Fantastic pen. I was curious how the shape would feel in the hand, and I ended up really pleased. I meant to order it engraved but missed the right option at checkout, so only my wallet got the engraving. Guess that gives me a reason to buy another pen!

Really well built. I use it a few times a day on a small pad that picks up oil, and this pen keeps writing right over the smudges. Great to have on hand whenever I need it.
Still recovering from surgery, so I haven't put everything through its paces yet. Picked up two wallets along with the pen. The wallets really surprised me with how easy it was to slim down from a trifold. The pen has mostly stayed put away since banks keep theirs chained to the desk. Haven't tried the key holder yet either — too many keys.
It's a great pen. Runs on the larger side, but that works just fine for me.
